Ailing Seal-Engravers’ Society was founded in 1904 by Ye Zhou and Ding Youren, the Zhejiang School of Seal Engraving. Wu Changshuo, the first president of Ailing Seal-Engravers’ Society, is the oldest and most influential academic organization in China. It has developed into an international folk art group that studies printing and painting.
With a total area of 5757.865 square meters, it is composed of three parts: upper, middle and lower, each has its own characteristics and is integrated with the surrounding environment. The human landscape and the natural landscape are contrasted with each other. The main buildings are Sizhao Pavilion, Tingwan, Guanleou, Yangxian Pavilion, Pak Tang, Bamboo Pavilion, Yinquan, Hua Yan Jing Pagoda, etc. Outdoor cliff chisel stone forest, celebrity‘s ink can be seen.
The museum houses more than 6,000 seals and calligraphy from past dynasties, including the Han Sanlaoji Memorial Stone, Stone carvings and 28 seals and other precious inscriptions.
Although there is no traditional vertical and horizontal pattern, but the pavilions are scattered because of the high and low mountains, layer by layer, orderly, can be called a good work of Jiangnan gardens.In 2001, it was included in the fifth batch of key national cultural relics protection units.
